John moved to Eureka in 1976 where he met his wife Gail and they married in 1988,
John has three children who still live in the Eureka area, Taj, Tyler and Ashley. All of them were born in Eureka and attended local public schools.
John graduated from San Jose State University with a BS degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics. He started with McKesson Wine & Spirits in the San Jose division and the company transferred him to Eureka.
After two years the company wanted to promote & transfer him to San Leandro but he had grew to love Eureka so he left the company instead. He started his accounting practice in 1983 and earned his CPA certificate in 1984.
The early years of the business were tough but the business grew fast so that today he has eight full & part time employees and hundreds of clients.
Always community minded John joined the Humboldt Bay JayCees in 1977 and became its president for two years. In 1981 he joined the Exchange Club of Eureka and remained a member for 20 years and also became its president in the late 1980’s.
In 1996 he joined Rotary and is still a member of that group today. He has always volunteered for various non profit organizations and has served on the boards of many. He also served on the Humboldt County Budget Oversight Committee in 1996/97and the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for the Eureka Area General Plan in 1989-1993.
John is an avid 49er fan and never misses a game. He often has his kids over for BBQ on game days. They try to attend one 49er game a year as a family group.
